The Committee identified a number of successes and some aspects of this years event which were not as successful as hoped. Bingo will be coming back for 2016. The committee was unable to come to consensus, however, on the location for next year’s event – whether it would go back to the Norsemen Inn, alternating with the Best Western Plus , or if it the Gala will be relocated the Best Western. Members will be asked to provide direction on two aspects of the Gala – location and meal type (buffet or served dinner) at the June 15 meeting.l

Guest Speaker – in light of this meeting being dedicated to the exchange students’ experience on the outdoor trip, Massie lead the rest of the meeting and recounted the trip with the help of a play where students demonstrated adventure highlights.

-plenty of hiking with heavy backpacks
-reward of hiking to the beautiful Landslide Lake –and going for a very cold swim
-day of rest highlighted by LOTS of pancakes
                -hiking down hill
                -the lack of showering

Filip Żmijewski and Maciel Rudnick swimming in Landslide Lake.

Massie thanked the club for making the trip possible for the exchange students. “it was awesome!”

Augustana Outdoor Education student  and guide Nils said the guides learned as much from the students as the students learned from the guides. He said it was very clear how much respect the students have for the ideals of Rotary, each other and the program.

Sabrina Andrews, another Augustana rep, said it is a delight to engage with the students. Many of the Augustana students have lead expeditions before, but they have guided their peers… for many guides this was the first time they were in a leadership role involving individuals outside the Augustana program.

The spring trip has evolved greatly from its origins with Roy Fearon and taking students on a bus trip to Vancouver, the BC interior and the Calgary Stampede, president David said as he recounted a number of adventures the students experienced in the early years of the program.

There were no Happy Bucks presented so that the students would have enough time for their presentation.

50/50 winner was one of our Rotarian guests, but the elusive Three of Clubs remained in the deck, therefore the $83 will grow again for June 15th.

David adjourned the meeting at 1255PM.
