Shirley reminded members of Macie’s farewell at their place on July 15thKyle gave a short preview of his year away, thanking the Club many times for this opportunity – for the best year of his life, the most challenging and where he saw the most personal growth. – and it was all due to the Club. Thanks for all the support, and he will have more to say later on.
5.         Business
            a.         President Tony gave out a number of Rotary Club pins that weren’t given out last week – to President Elect Dan Mac, and Directors Jen, Tyler and Sheila. Welcome to the Executive and thanks for taking on these jobs.

            b.         President Tony then brought forward two Notices of Motions from last week for a vote. After a brief explanation and a friendly amendment to the first one (New edging at the Butterfly Park where the cost was amended to reflect a cost range of $4500 - $5500 instead of $4500 – see last week’s BUZZ for the motion). The vote (ballot) was 23 Ayes and 2 Nays. MOTION CARRIED.  The second vote was for the Club’s 2015/16 BudgetRon G asked for a copy, as he was not here last week. Voting by ballot – 25 Yeas – MOTION CARRIED.

            c.         President Tony advised the meeting that the Club would be participating in the BVJ parade this year – space in the car will be offered to the President of the Daybreak Club. Al Rostad advised all Rotary volunteer BVJ parade float judges that the Chamber will be contacting them directly with reporting information.

6.         Greeters Dawn and Jim R suggested that anyone who had yet to take Macie out for any function should pay $1. The Happy Buck response was good – Jim R, Dave S, Randall, Shirley, Ray, Dave T, Sheila, Roy F, Ken, Dawn, Al, and Lou.

7.         President Tony outlined his “To Do” list for the coming year.
            a.         make our committees more active –short meetings during Club Assemblies and regular updates to members, so that Committee chairs are aware of their budgets;
            b.         more involvement of members for more active involvement on committees, and possibly combine/reduce our number of committees;
            c.         better planning for local projects, instead of a reactive approach;
            d.         use a consistent evaluation process to select projects, keeping in mind our goals as a club; and
            e.         execute our budgets (by committee).

8.         Classification Talk.  President Tony then invited new member Jen Stone to present her classification talk.

            Jen was born in Edmonton, moved to Vancouver, married there, and they moved to Camrose for work and for an affordable home. Although Jen was educated at Simon Fraser University (degree in Sociology) and wanted to be as police officer, she was told that she wasn’t suitable for this profession. But, being a "do-er", she took work in Graham Wideman’s (a truly great boss) paint store for a while, and re-instilled her love of interior design work and gained a broader business base as well. Then followed an opportunity to become a high school Teaching Assistant at the Comp for three years, then some event planning work and finally a wonderful job opportunity was created for her locally at the Auto Shoppe, where she has enjoyed the work for the last nine years and has solidified her spare time fix as a volunteer junkie – working with a variety of enterprises, from Relay For Life to the Viking Cup, to curling events, girl guides and figure skating.  Married for 23 years now, and hubby happily working for the city, they are enjoying life very much. Jen firmly believes that if there is a job to be done, then just do it! She is an admitted social media nut (responsible social media!), and all her family are keen volunteers now. As a Rotarian, she is tasked with membership. She intends to carry her passion into this job as well, and she expects the help of all members as a joint venture to grow the club, so get ready!

9.         The weekly 50/50 draw was won by Ron G - no luck on the card draw, but the pot now sits at about $130.

10.       At next week’s meeting we will be joined by Sheralyn Dobos. Our greeters will be Leroy and Lou.  The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
