This week we hear from Ray Hook and the plans for the Austrailian Friendship Exchange's upcoming trip to Camrose in late May.

The Buzz – April 18, 2016

President Tony opened the meeting at 1215pm. There were no guests present.

Health of the Club – condolences to Bonnie Anderson on the recent passing of her mother.

Happy  Bucks – many happy people, and the return of others Rotarians who have been away for a while.

Ashley’s Update – she has been studying hard to get a better knowledge of German, so she opened her update with a greeting in German! She has finished her “Be Curious” project about Austria and will be sharing it with the club soon.  She is getting excited now that her exchange begins in just four months.

Notice of Motion – members voted unanimously to go ahead with the Tanzania project.

Australian Exchange – Ray hook unveiled a preliminary schedule for the Australian Friendship Exchange planned for late May.  The trip includes a performance by the Community Band, Reynolds Museum, Maskwacis tour, tour around Camrose including Rotary projects and youth centre, Lefse House for traditional Norwegian meal, visit Little Beaver Lake (Ferisntosh) for some canoeing lessons, smallest jail in Bashaw, railway in Meeting Creek, Elk Island National Park, Ukranian Village.  There will be a  joint Rotary meeting on Thursday May 26th. The group will continue on to Edmonton then Jasper/Banff before returning home. All the hosts, drivers and volunteers are in place. Thanks for your excellent coordination efforts, Ray!

Rotary Celebration Gala – work is well underway for the event which happens in 12 days (April 30th). Rotarians are asked to keep Tony informed about silent auction items, Dawn informed about ticket sales and please see Jenn for volunteer opportunities. There is an amazing list of live and super silent auction items up for bid this year, so we need the people in the seats to help raise the money we need for Stop Hunger Now and our ongoing Rotary project needs.  Next meeting is TUESDAY, APRIL 26 AT NOON.

50/50 draw – Sheila Herle’s number was drawn for the 50/50, but she drew the 10 of Spades, not the Ace of  Spaces she was looking for.

Guest Speaker – Ryan Poole of the City of Camrose, speaking about the park redevelopment project (near the Rotary Four Season’s Park).
