Two Rotarian, David & Helen Samm, and a friend Alan Ford, are bicycling from Winnipeg to Camrose to raise funds to support local literacy projects.

Why would two Camrose Rotarians, David Samm, from the Camrose Rotary Club, and Helen Samm, from the Camrose Daybreak Club, along with local cyclist (and friend) Alan Ford, cycle from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Camrose, Alberta, (1200km)?

They hope to raise awareness about literacy issues in Canada and raise funds to support local programs such as "English as a Second Language", and programs to encourage fathers to read to their children.  "Our goal is to raise $15,000," said David.

The cyclists plan to leave Winnipeg on Friday, September 5. They hope to visit seven schools along the route where they will read and act out Robert Munsch stories to the children.  If all goes well, they will arrive at Ecole Sifton School in Camrose on September 12 at 2:30pm, for cookies and stories.  Everyone is invited to welcome our cyclists home, and listen to the stories.

Famous children's author, Robert Munsch, has thrown his support behind the program, and has supplied autographed copies of his books, which will be give to the schools that are visited along the route.
