Camrose Rotary Donates $800 to St. Mary's Hospital
St. Mary's Hospital has had a Schizophrenia Program for almost 20 years. This group of Patients is perhaps the most chronically ill as most of them are originally treated with the only medications available at the time in the 1970's. To a large extent they have developed some of the deficits caused by poor compliance and medication and exacerbated of schizophrenia prior to treatment with current antipsychotic medications. Despite their struggles this has become the most genuine and grateful group of men and women staff have the privilege of knowing. This December the hospital want to take the residents by bus to Candy Cane Lane and to Castrol Raceway Magic of Lights display. With Camrose Rotary donating $800, the hospital was able to rent a Bi-West Translines bus to make this trip a reality. Participants from the Schizophrenia Program and those interested from the Canadian Mental Health Association will be off to experience some Christmas cheer this December.
