2008-2009 Outbound Exchange Student Chosen

Connor Malone is a Grade Ten student at Camrose Composite High School, having transferred from Our Lady Mount Pleasant this fall. His parents are James, an air traffic controller at Edmonton International and Deborah, an RN at Rosehaven. He is the youngest of three boys. His family lived in Yellowknife, NWT and Wilcox, SK prior to moving to Camrose.

Connor is a soccer player, and was selected for the under sixteen Team Canada tour of Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic this past summer. Besides his passion for soccer, Connor loves to read and to write short stories and poetry. He is involved with his church, and volunteers at Rosehaven. He is also an honour roll student.

Connor is no stranger to international travel, as he and his mother lived for five months in Costa Rica where she taught English as a Second Language. He looks forward to exchanging to a South American country such as Chile where he will be able to improve his rudimentary Spanish skills.

Connor's long term plans include travel, becoming a medical doctor, and working with Doctors Without Borders.

Connor will be attending our club meetings until he leaves on his exchange in July 2008.  Please take the time to get to know him.

The committee is confident that Connor will be an excellent ambassador for Rotary and for Canada in his exchange year.
