Kazimir Haykowsky, Food System Designer
Food Sovereignty and Reconciliation on the Prairies
Kaz Haykowsky is a former student at U of A Augustana Campus, an entrepreneur, and food system designer with Camrose-based social enterprise Newo Global Energy.

Newo is working in collaboration with First Nations in Central Alberta to help them reclaim their food, their culture, and the education of their children, and to make good on the promises made between our nations in Treaty.

Join Kaz to learn about the history of Indigenous food on the prairies, explore the concept of food sovereignty, and discover how Camrosians and Rotarians can contribute to a movement for reconciliation, Indigenous leadership in food, and local food ecosystems, right here in our own neighbourhood.

The photo above shows the "Three Sisters" of corn, beans, and squash, growing in a planter outside the Newo Global Energy Office in Camrose.
