Jason Roe is digital history specialist at the Kansas City Public Library, and content manager and editor for The Pendergast Years website. With Diane Mutti Burke and John Herron, he co-edited the book, Wide-Open Town: Kansas City in the Pendergast Era (University Press of Kansas, 2018), winner of the 2019 Book Award from the Missouri Conference on History. He is author of the popular column, “This Week in Kansas City History” and content manager and editor for the website, Civil War on the Western Border: The Missouri-Kansas Conflict, 1854-1865, which won the Roy Rosenzweig Prize for Innovation in Digital History from the American Historical Association, in addition to awards from the Western History Association, the Society of Civil War Historians, and the American Association for State and Local History. He is on the boards of directors for the Jackson County Historical Society and the Missouri Conference on History. Prior to joining the Library, he earned his Ph.D. in American history from the University of Kansas in May 2012. While at KU, he was named the 2011-2012 Richard and Jeanette Sias Graduate Fellow at the Hall Center for the Humanities, and he received the History Department's 2012 George L. Anderson Award for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation for his work, "From the Impoverished to the Entitled: The Experience and Meaning of Old Age in America since the 1950s."
ZOOM meeting videos
A new feature is available - ZOOM video recordings.
As of January 20 we are recording our meetings. All of our speakers have been very interesting - we just learned how to record, access, and make the recordings available AR smksrotary.org. The password to each is listed. We don't control it. Copy and paste is the easiest way to enter it!

The link is in the upper left corner of the webpage, just under meeting responsibilities. Have you checked lately?

Enjoy!
