As President Lisa stated above, weeding and watering the planters at the Growing Futures site in downtown Overland Park is one of our service activities. You may or may not know that nonprofits charitable organizations like Growing Futures and the Veterans Community Project benefit when we report the hours each of us put in. When it all works right, we send documentation from our club to them. They are able to report both the hours and the value they represent on their Form 990. The current value is $27.20/hour/person. to record those hours the value they represent Charity Navigator, Guidestar, and other nonprofit accountability databases report details for every charity. Significant donors access these records prior to making a gift. One thing they look for is volunteer hours and value, as it represents support from the larger community.
