She grew up in Overland Park, KS in a family of five and graduated from Shawnee Mission South. She pursued a career in hospitality management and traveled the country as the company acquired hotels, training staff and getting properties ready to open.

She was married in 1996, had two children, Shelby and Sam, and settled down in Council Bluffs, IA.

She attended her first Rotary meeting in 2012 at the Council Bluffs Noon Rotary.

She immediately got involved in several committees: RYLA, district grant writing, food drive and the Polio Foundation. She attended RLI in 2014 and was asked to serve as her Club President in 2016. When Rotary International launched their Visioning Program to help clubs with strategic planning, she was asked to become a trainer. She was part of a group that traveled to other clubs in their district that were interested in strategic planning and guided them through the process. She enjoyed all of the distinct roles, but being the "extractor" was her favorite.

In 2018, as Polio Foundation head, she created the "Purple Pinkie Project". She shared the Rotary story about Polio to 4th and 5th graders. After each presentation, they would conduct a fundraiser at the school and whatever funds they raised her club matched. It was probably her favorite Rotary activity to date.
