Building Cities We Can't Afford

This program is co-hosted by the Shawnee Mission and Olathe Rotary Clubs and will be presented virtually, via Zoom.

Brief description:

Communities across the country are facing a fundamental problem:  we’ve built cities we can’t afford. Over the past 70 years Kansas City has spread out, but because there’s been no corresponding growth in population, each resident is now responsible for supporting with tax dollars, nearly four times as much infrastructure.  Dennis will talk about why we have an infrastructure problem and will present a new way of thinking about cities that provides a sustainable path forward.
