Why is Veterans Day always on November 11th?  These memorial gestures all took place on November 11, giving universal recognition to the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month).  The day became known as "Armistice Day." In 1954, the holiday's name was changed to Veterans Day, to honor the veterans of all wars the United States has fought. To all Veterans, thank you for your time, bravery, and sacrifice for this country.  We are forever grateful for what you've done to maintain America's freedom.  Thank you for your service!
