Last week the Foundation was pleased to announce that we are partnering with the Shawnee Fire Department to honor the memory of long time Rotary member, Tricia Stevenson. Tricia was a member of Rotary for over 14 years and was dedicated to serving her community, especially with the Bike Safety Rodeo. Her smile would always brighten an early Friday morning. Tricia tragically passed away in January 2024 after being injured in a house fire. The fire in her home was a result of unattended cooking. We learned from Deputy Chief Corey Sands, with the Shawnee Fire Department, that they had been wanting to purchase a Hazard Kitchen Simulator to improve their community and school presentations on cooking fire safety. The simulators will be called “Tricia’s Kitchen” in Tricia's memory and her story will be used to educate our community in fire safety, particularly in the kitchen.
