February 23, 1905, Rotary International was started by Paul  Harris. Every year this date is celebrated as the Anniversary of Rotary. For a century plus, Rotary members have created access to education, empowered communities, pushed polio to the brink of eradication and improved lives around the world. Name the first Rotary International project. Happy 118th Anniversary!

The Rotary Club of Shawnee was chartered on February 28, 1997, with 50 members. The Shawnee Mission and Johnson County Rotary Clubs were the sponsoring clubs that formed the new Shawnee Rotary Club. Below is a picture of the Officers and Directors for February 28 - June 30, 1997 that were installed by then District Governor Fred Krebs at Lake Quivira Country Club.  Charter Members still active in our club are: Joni Pflumm, Joyce Rabas, John Ruo, Charlie Clark and Paul Ridgway.
