Senior forensic students from Louisburg High School shared their talents with us today. Matthew Parodi led the charge. He qualified for State and is one of the first students ever to qualify for Nationals. He qualified in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, a one-on-one debate where students argue their viewpoints on a specific topic. Marisa Perry qualified in Dramatic Interpretation and was unable to share her piece with us.

Joey Smith is also a senior and qualified for State in two events - Poetry and Humorous Interpretation (H.I.). He also competes in Prose and Duet Acting. He performed his H.I. skit today, entitled Thomas Brady's First Day of Kindergarten.

Senior Hayley Higgins qualified for State in H.I. and Improvised Duet Acting. She performed her H.I. entitled The Test. She also competes in D.I. and actually prefers performing the latter.

The forensics team of 53 students earned a combined total of more than 150 medals. At least 70% of the participants made it to finals in at least one event this season. There are three preliminary rounds with one judge and each student is rated based on their performance. The person with the lowest rating and highest quality points "breaks" into the Final Round that includes three judges. Students who earn 1-3 place at a qualifying tournament qualify for State.

This year the team is led by a new teacher to the district, Brian Weilert. And this year, for the very first time, students are taking 39 events to the State Festival, 16 to State Champs and 2 to Nationals! Congratulations!
