Rotary Recap 02.17.2016

If you missed Rotary today, don't worry - you will get another chance to hear Toby Cook from the Royals organization talk about the upcoming season. Because they decided to extend the netting to the end of team dugouts at Kauffman, Toby had to stick around The K. He felt terrible to cancel at the last minute, and is committed to rescheduling.

What you won't get to see again is a spontaneous matching funds drive led by Rotarian Jim Williams.

We were contacted by the City of Louisburg to consider helping fund a project to purchase new holiday decorations. When President Anna announced that our club would be putting $100 toward the cause, Jim decided we could do better. He gave $10 and challenged members to match his donation. Within five minutes, an additional $100 was raised. All told, Bob will write a check for $200 to help with the holiday decoration project. Thanks, Jim, for taking the lead on that!

Andy talked to the mayor and will get clarification on the potential base water rate for businesses of $200 per month.
Doug Furnell compared the Johnson County sewer rates with ours in Louisburg - currently ours are 30% lower and after the rate increase ours will be 20% higher. That led to a fun discussion about county dumping and stinking
