A wonderful member of our community, Dave Plumer, shared his unique experiences living in the United States during WWII.  Many foods and everyday items were rationed during that time.  The family owned the local general store so when it was time for Dave to turn in for the night, the family dog walked him home and stayed close by until his parents returned home.
Dave also shared WWII facts.  The number of men who died at the time of service is mind boggling.
We can be thankful that so many fought for our current freedoms.
