Our Beautiful Trails!
The Rotary Way Trail now connects Athabasca from east to west, and several places in between, with beautiful, and mostly paved, walking trails.
Thank you to countless individuals, businesses, Town of Athabasca and Athabasca County for your generous help every step of the way over the 28 years since the first leg was built.
The east trailhead begins at the Athabasca County Administration office extending through town to the west trailhead location at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex - which is close to Edwin Parr Composite School and Athabasca Landing Pool.
Along the Riverfront Boardwalk portion interpretive signage is displayed on the south bank of the Athabasca River. This trail is enjoyed by walkers, joggers and bikers and is also wheelchair accessible. Picnic tables and benches placed along the walk make it an ideal stopping place to watch the river or have a lunch break. Parking is plentiful, and access is ideal for campers and RVs.
Side trails connect to TransCanada Trail, Muskeg Creek Trails, Landing Trail Intermediate School and Pirates Hill viewpoint (a short hike in the forest that culminates in a gorgeous view of the town).
