Annually the Rotary Club of Salisbury recognizes a club member for outstanding community service and he or she gets $1,000 to donate to a charity, thanks to the monetary generosity of club member Ace Parker for whom the award is named.
This year's award recipient Kurt Schuster selected two local non-profit groups to share in the funding. Accepting the check for the Epoch Dream Center was Marcy Disbennett, shown in the photograph with Ace Parker on the left and Kurt Schuster. The mission of the Epoch Dream Center is to mentor, nurture, encourage, and equip children in the areas of academics, character development, behavior, and emotional wellbeing through after-school programs.
Dr. Samantha Scott accepted on behalf of the One Year to Empowerment program. This is a free, year-long program designed to build self-esteem, self-respect, and self-reliance in teenage girls through hand-on empowering activities.
