Mike Dunn, CEO and President of the Greater Salisbury Committee, provided us an update on this important organization's work to improve our community.
The msssion of The Greater Salisbury Committee is "Serving as a Catalyst Since 1967 to Make the Salisbury Area Better and Stronger".  He said his group wants to keep the ball moving forward on projects and programs that will benefit and improve our community.

Mr. Dunn described some of the recent projects to achieve that goal.
  • Studying the desirability and possible need for a central water and sewer sytem in Wicomico County.
  • Improving behavioral and mental health services for youngsters on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
  • Beautifying and developing the core area of the City of Salisbury through the Salisbury Community Development Corporation
  • Helping sponsor a new wintertime festival in the Salisbury City Park, similar to the Festival of Lights in Ocean City.
  • Working with other organizations to help relocate the Wicomico County Public Library from its downtown Salisbury site to the old Ward Museum building while helping Salisbury University move forward on constructing and operating a $100 million performing arts center at the old library location.
All in all, it was an impressive list of initiatives.
