Tonight, Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano gave club members a comprehensive and informative update on what she and the county government have been doing to improve the lives of county residents. There has been a lot happening since she was elected almost three years ago and quite a bit still in the planning stages.
Mrs. Giordano spoke about the positive financial shape the county government is in, updated us on new and planned county facilities, shared how the county's government schools are moving forward, provided a review of new economic development activities and growth opportunities, explained how money from the sale of cannibis in the county is being used to fund social services programs, reviewed some of the challenges the county and its farmers are facing due to state of Maryland requirements for the placement of solar panels, and closed with an explanation of how the county is working with and may be working with the federal government's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
In response to a closing question, she said there is general agreement with the county council on the many issues facing the county and its government though that might not be obvious from news stories.
Informative presentations such as this are regular occurances at our weekly Thursday evening meetings. We always are seeking new club members, so consider joining us. Check out the Join Us section of this website.
