Our shipment to Tanzania containing medical supplies for a new health clinic is about to leave the Port of Norfolk, Virginia for its months-long trip to east Africa.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury is working to help the lives of Tanzanians by helping with the establishment of a medical clinic in Kamachumu, Tanzania.

International service is one of the hallmarks of Rotary and the dire need for improved medical services in the east African nation of Tanzania is a reason for the club’s participation.  With a population of more than 65 million persons, there are fewer than 9,000 working doctors in the nation.  The Rotary-supported clinic will help relieve the burden faced by the people of Tanzania.

With a clinic constructed, our club has collected enough supplies to fill a 40-foot shipping container.  That equipment recently was moved from a Salisbury warehouse to a truck for transport to Norfolk.

The club has been working for years with the Emerging Health Initiatives organization to get this project near completion.  More about this project can be found at https://emerginghealthinitiatives.org.
