At our most recent meeting, we heard about an exciting technology being developed in our community…the development of drones to support commercial activities.
HopFlyt was founded in 2016 to solve a very specific problem: Today’s vertical lift aircraft are inefficient, not optimized for small payloads, and too costly for routine missions. Popularly called drones, they can be less polluting, more flexible, less risky, and less expensive to operate than helicopters. A drone is an aircraft without an onboard pilot, crew, or passengers.
HopFlyt Chief Engineer Neil Winston told us how these new generation hybrid-electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing aircraft for Advanced Air Mobility missions are being created in Wicomico County.
