The highly successful head football coach at Salisbury University was our speaker tonight and Sherman Wood shared with club members the story of his life and his more than a quarter of a century as the university's football coach.
It was easy to learn how he has motivated his players over the years and reach a pinnacle of success by being named the 2024 national Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association. He is the university's all-time winningest coach with 193 wins and has made 20 postseason appearances.
Mr. Wood has been active in the Salisbury-area community, especially with organizations that work with youngsters. He also has been involved with the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club.
While he told us football was important to his players, their most significant achievement was graduating.
