Rockwall Coats for Kids

The men and women of the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club could not be prouder to enter our 13th year of providing brand new winter coats to Rockwall ISD elementary school students in need. And with your help we can make this year's event the biggest ever.

In November, Old Navy in Rockwall will open its doors early to allow approximately 350 pre-selected Rockwall ISD elementary school students to select their own brand new winter coat. For many of these children, this coat is the only new item they get to select all year.

But we need your help to make their dreams come true. Your donations go straight toward the purchase of new coats so please consider opening up your heart and your wallet for a good cause.

1. How do you decide which children are eligible to receive a new winter coat?

• RBRC works directly with Rockwall ISD, who provides us a complete list of recipients. The children on the list are chosen by the principals, counselors and staff at each elementary campus in Rockwall ISD.

2. Which Rockwall ISD schools participate?

• Currently every elementary school in Rockwall ISD participates in Rockwall Coats for Kids. One of our goals is to grow this project over the coming years so we can include middle school and high school students as well.

3. Does RBRC accept donations of gently used coats?

• Rockwall Coats for Kids does not distribute used coats at this time. We provide only brand new coats because we want each child to have something to call their own, something that has not been handed down to them from an older sibling or friend. However, if you have a gently used coat you wish to donate we strongly encourage you to give it to Helping Hands of Rockwall County.

4. How is Old Navy involved?

• This is our fourth year to partner directly with Old Navy in Rockwall to offer the children a shopping experience. This means that the children and their families are invited to come to Old Navy in Rockwall during a specified time to pick their coat off of the racks. Old Navy employees volunteer their time to guide the children through the process and make sure they get a coat that fits them correctly. For so many of these children, this experience is the only time all year they get to actually visit a store and pick a brand new item right off of the shelf.

• One gift can keep a child warm for a whole winter when you give to Rockwall Coats for Kids. Your donation below will be used to buy winter coats for Rockwall children in need. A gift of just $30 buys a new coat. Thank you for giving generously!
