Even though you may not be near Neil or Sandra Davidson today, we hope you'll let these lesser-known lyrics from Katherine Lee Bates' "America the Beautiful" fill your heart.  Fly your flags proudly, hold close those near and dear, and salute all those who serve and have served.
Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. It was first proclaimed in 1868 by General John Logan, whose General Order No. 11 stated “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land.”  The date was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any battle.
Someday, the construction on Highway 183 will stop.  We think.  But regardless of when that happens, there's a renaissance well underway at Irving's Baylor (Scott & White) Hospital.

Hear more about this exciting project from hospital CEO Cindy Schamp, this Thursday, June 1, high noon at the Las Colinas Country Club.

It's almost three years since City Manager Chris Hillman came to Irving, and he's had a non-stop ride since his arrival.   Hear firsthand from Chris about where the City is focusing its energies and resources as its teams work toward building a stronger city for us all.

This Thursday, June 8 - high noon at the Las Colinas Country Club.  Bring a friend or neighbor!

Wow...Operation Underground Railroad was eye-opening and heart-wrenching and important to be part of. Two million children worldwide live as sex slaves, 73 million children under 12 are forced laborers, and that's a conservative estimate. O.U.R. is working to free child slaves, in a 3-step process designed by experts in covert military and law enforcement operations.

We can't wait to see The Abolitionists, a documentary on their efforts, when it is released this spring.

Thanks to Matt Osborne, for the POWERFUL PROGRAM today.
Definitely a unique program today! Dr. Jon Taylor offered a living lesson on the power and stress-relieving ability of hypnosis - and the power the vision of a dream can have! Several club members volunteered - many for the promise of a good night's sleep! Looks like former prez Chuck Boyce was definitely a willing participant!

GIRLS RULE! Last week, our club hosted the Irving ISD Women’s Basketball Coaches. Pictured are Coach Mike Kunstadt of the club; Coach Pam Owens, Nimitz; Coach Suzie Oelschlegel, MacArthur; Coach Katrina Robinson, Irving High; and Assistant Athletic Director Mike Luttrell.

The Irving-Las Colinas Rotary Club has a long history of support and engagement with the Irving YMCA.
Our club recognized high school community service volunteers last week.
Irving Assistant City Manager (and Club President-Elect) Max Duplant was our featured on October 15, providing background and perspective on the city’s budget.
In keeping with October baseball, it was a change-up yesterday from our original program plans.  Extra thanks to City of Irving Municipal Judge Laura Anderson, who stepped up to the plate to fill in and enlightened our group on several issues concerning traffic safety.  She is pictured here with Club President Carolyn Matthis.
