Ride For Rotary Queen Isabella Causeway Cross

The Rotary Club of Historic Brownsville, Inc. will host Ride for Rotary on October 2, 2022. The ride starts in Brownsville and ends in South Padre Island, Texas. All riders are provided the opportunity to ride over the Queen Isabella Causeway! At the conclusion of the ride, a celebration and lunch is held at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island, Texas.
The ride draws participation from cyclists of all levels and ages from Brownsville, San Benito, Harlingen, South Padre Island, Weslaco, Alamo, Pharr, Mission, McAllen, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio. This is the 15th year that our Rotary Club will host this bike ride.
All proceeds raised by the event will be used to support the Rotary Club’s projects and endeavors. By way of example, our Rotary Club has used proceeds from past rides for the following:
- Hosting Rotary Eye Clinic to provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to children
- Hosting Rotary’s Annual Heart Gallery to promote adoption awareness
- Funding scholarships for local students
- Providing meals at the Good Neighbor Settlement House
- Providing financial support to Friendship of Women, Inc.
- Providing financial support to Ozanam Center
- Providing financial support to local food banks
- Providing funds for medical treatment and supplies to local residents
- Providing financial support to local families
- Donating Sound Upgrade Equipment to Camille Lightner Playhouse
- Christmas Caroling at Nursing Homes and Gifts for Residents
- Christmas Gifts to Young Mothers from low to moderate income in Lincoln Park area
- Donating clothes, shoes, luggage, beds, and furniture to local foster kids & families
- Financial support for International Water Projects
