Seven Things About Mark:

1. Briefly describe your occupation.
I am now retired after almost 40 years working in state government relations: Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Kansas Beer Wholesalers Association, Anheuser-Busch Companies (St. Louis), and Capitol Strategies LLC.
2. What is your favorite hobby?
My favorite hobby is SCUBA diving and underwater photography. I have been doing that for over 40 years.
3. Who do you feel was a major inspiration in your life or career?
Inspiration? I am not sure. Several people have been instrumental in my career. They include Eldon Danenhauer (former Coors distributor in Topeka/Lawrence), Dean Campbell (former Anheuser-Busch distributor in Manhattan), Pat Hubbell, and former colleague at Anheuser Busch, Ed Miles. There are many more; we all gain by listening and being inspired by others throughout our lives.
4. What music genre do you listen to the most?
Anything by Jimmy Buffett. Yeah, I am a real Parrothead. Unfortunately, last year two surgeons spent 12 hours operating on my head to remove a non-cancerous tumor. In doing that, they had to remove my hearing nerve. Now I am totally deaf in my left ear and that has significantly affected my ability to enjoy music. Bummer.
5. Describe your perfect vacation:
My perfect vacation is diving along a beautiful coral reef somewhere in the South Pacific looking for marine creatures to photograph, especially odd looking ones.
6. What media events capture your attention the most?
Given my background, political events capture more of my attention. I particularly focus on watching both political parties being controlled by extremists and the affect money has on our political process.
7. What is your favorite sport or sports figure to watch?
I don’t watch sports much. But I do follow my Kansas State Wildcats!
