Tom Ellis - VP of Development for Washburn University Foundation
 
Tom has been in college administration since 1975.  At Washburn University Tom has held positions in student recruiting, student activities, student services, facilities scheduling, student union operations, purchasing and auxiliary business operations.  In 1994 Tom became the Director of the Oklahoma Memorial Union at the University of Oklahoma and returned to Washburn University in 1997 to be Special Assistant to the President where he simultaneously held interim positions as VP of Administration and Treasurer and later Dean of Enrollment Management.  In 2009 Tom became the VP of Development at the Washburn University Foundation where he serves today.

Tom is active in community activities having served in volunteer and leadership positions as Planning Commissioner, Chair of a crime reduction program through the US Justice Department, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Girl Scout Board of Directors, Community Visioning sub-chair for education, Rotary, scout leader and is currently on the advisory board for Kansas Avenue redevelopment.

Tom’s wife teaches elementary school and they have two adult children and two grandchildren.  Tom is the author of a political murder thriller novel, Candidate to Kill.
