Meet a TSR Rotarian

David Smith, the superintendent of the Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education National Historic Site
 
David Smith is a 20 year veteran of the National Park Service. He and his family arrived most recently from a two-year stint in the nation's capitol where David served on the staff of the House Natural Resource Committee. Previously, the family worked at the Grand Canyon along the south rim. During his career, David has worked primarily at desert parks such as Joshua Tree, Arches, and Canyonlands. Although he worked initially in law enforcement, in recent years he has spent more time in interpretaion and educaton. Currently, David serves as the superintendent at Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka.

The family originally hails from California. David was born in San Diego and did his undergraduate work at UC Berkeley. There, he met his future spouse, John, and that is where they adopted their two children Dante and Jakiah,

Although there seldom seems to be enough time left over to do anything, both John and David enjoy teaching Sunday school, going for long runs, and flying the family Censna - made in Kansas no less!
