Last Week Before the Guatemala Trip

On September 16, members of the Topeka South Rotary Club are going to Guatemala for a week on a joint service project with Woodland Public Charity of Kansas City. Faron Barr, Patti Bossert, Michael Culp, Mike Wilson, Maria Wilson and Kyle Smith, will be visiting schools, providing medical assistance to students and infants, improving water purification systems and celebrating the first four graduates of the new nursing program!
This trip is an outgrowth of Paul Bossert's mission trip in June with Rotaract.

It has been suggested that we could take some small 'gift' items that are in short supply at the schools or the clinic and would be of benefit. The following items were suggested by WPC:

1) “Onsies” – Newborn infant to 12 month sizes
2) Crayons and markers
3) Pens
4) Stickers – NOT sticker books, just sheets of stickers
5) Test strips for blood glucose testing for these machines ONLY:
a. AccuCheck Nano
b. Onetouch Ultra Mini
c. Bayar Contour
d. Free Style Flash
e. Free Style Lite
These range in price from $25 - $100 for 100 strips.

Please do NOT donate notebooks, paper, or books. These items are too heavy for us to take with us on the trip.

And of course we would accept cash donations to buy items, or to pay the airline to bring the extra luggage full of them!
If you are so inclined, please bring the items to Rotary the next three Fridays and get them to any of the members going on the trip.
