Katy Nelson - Topeka Area Building Association

The Topeka Area Building Association is a not for profit that helps in a wide array. They feel very strongly about the community that they serve, work with area schools to help students find their paths for careers, help contractors with continuing education, and help to keep codes up to date with the city and state.

They have a program called Building Topeka Student Chapter and they focus on getting into the schools and working with students that might not know what they want to do after graduation yet. They want to make sure that every student knows there are options.

They are bringing Build My Future (BMF) to Topeka.  BMF is an interactive trade show for students. They are hoping to get students to the Stormont Vail Event Center and let them have some hands-on experience within the trades. This program will help students get a look into many different kinds of construction and hopefully they will want to learn more.  This is the first year they are doing this but will NOT be the last.
