The donations from Topeka South Rotary were a major help to the ongoing sustained economic development of Patanatic, Guatemala. The supplies and money provided by TSR were administered in several different areas. To learn more about this past trip, click the "more" button below. There will be a detailed presentation on August 23rd. I hope all of you can attend.

Faron Barr and his family represented Topeka South Rotary in another service project provided through Woodland Public Charities in Patanatic, Guatemala during the week of June 9-17th, 2013. Once again, this experience was not only productive, but very rewarding. Faron's family and a Physicians Assistant from Manhattan, KS were able to complete several necessary tasks. They administered eye tests to 5th and 6th grade students in four different villages, installed 7 cook stoves, delivered baby clothes to families with newborns, and checked water filters in over a dozen homes among several other tasks. The P.A., with help from one of the nurses and Faron's sister-in-law, saw several patients in the Patanatic clinic and performed baby checkups at the four schools. Your donations were a major help with this effort. Faron's family personally handed the items you donated to the students, teachers and families in this area. The can money that TSR raised purchased 3 cook stoves (which Faron and his nephew installed), three water filters (which Faron assembled), and helped stock the clinic with more supplies. The people of Patanatic and the surrounding area were very grateful.

It is an honor to be able to assist the people of Patanatic in their efforts to improve their economic and environmental sustainability. It is a wonderful experience and we encourage all of you to participate when you have the opportunity. You will not regret it.
