Dear District 6040 Rotarians,
As you know, significant flooding is wreaking havoc in Nebraska and Missouri and the damage is significant. Rotarians are by nature very generous and always interested in helping with the relief efforts, especially when they strike so close to home.
I have been in close contact with Past District Governor, John Gill. He has been leading the efforts to sandbag levees along the Missouri River. He was confident that he would have a good turnout today to help our local farmers...thanks John! I understand that the Braymer FFA chapter was even in route to help in the efforts.
John, DGE Marc Horner, District Treasurer Carl Froeschle, and I all sit on the District 6040 Donor Advisory Fund Advisory Council. After talking with each other, we feel that the best ways to help with flood relief are as follows:
For emergency services needed now-please contribute to the American Red Cross and denote "Missouri or Nebraska Flooding" in the memo line. Addresses are as follows:
-Missouri Regional Headquarters, 10195 Corporate Square, Creve Coeur, MO 63132.
-Omaha/Council Bluff Metro Regional Office, 2912 S. 80th Ave, Omaha, NE 68124.
The American Red Cross website also has a red donate button on the home page that allows you to contribute to the local chapters.
For Flood Recovery, Levee Rebuilding, and Infrastructure Repair, please contribute to the District 6040 Donor Advisory Fund. Checks must be made out to "The Rotary Foundation DAF". On the memo line of the check include District 6040 DAF. Please also send a note with the check that it is intended for "Missouri Flooding and Disaster Relief ". Donations should be mailed to the District Treasurer, Carl Froeschle, 1201 S.W. Coachlight Drive, Lee's Summit, MO 64081.
Thanks in advance for your consideration and any assistance you feel compelled to contribute. Water is so damaging and I am sure the relief efforts will take many months or more to repair and return their communities to normal. As always, many thought and prayers are needed for those living in the disaster areas.
