District 6040 Foundation Dinner results

I wanted to thank each and every Rotarian in the District for the success of our recent District Foundation Dinner.  Our 20th Foundation fundraising and recognition event was a big success.  We got to enjoy a wonderful talk by Rotary International President Mark Daniel Maloney and an equally great impromptu speech from his wonderful wife Gay Maloney.  Those of you who were not there will have to ask one of the attendees how that transpired.

 

The recognition of the clubs and the "People of Action" District Grant project awards went very well and the video of  our District Grant projects was awesome. The atmosphere at Arrowhead was wonderful and the decorations were beautiful.

We raised a lot of money for the Rotary Foundation. We raised $ 61,069.00 for the Annual Fund/Share through Rotary Club sponsor-ships, individual ticket sales, silent auction proceeds and Golden Raffle ticket sales.  That will bring $ 30,534.50 back to our District in three years for us to use in District matching grants. We sold $ 10,025.00 worth of "Dinner anywhere in the World" tickets.  That will net $ 5,025.00 for the Polio fund which with the two to one Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation match will be $ 15,075.00 to help end polio now.

 

The winners of the Golden Ticket and Dinner anywhere in the world raffles were all District Rotarians which is really great.  Martial Thevenot  of St Joseph Southside chose the Florida Condo, DeeAnn Stock of Raytown chose the Colorado Condo and Natalie Goe of the Lee's Summit Downtown club is the owner of that beautiful necklace.  President Jodi Sundaram will be going to Dinner somewhere in the World sometime in the future.  Congratulations to all of them.

 

In summary it was a great event except for one thing.  We were trying out a new software package to assist in tracking donations and to help in the silent auction checkout.  It wasn't ready on time and that caused delays in checking people in and checking purchases out. I accept full responsibility for the decision to acquire the software and for not making sure that we were ready the night of the event.  I apologize to those of you who had to stand in line to check in or to claim your purchases at the end.  Please do not fold the event responsible as we need you to all come back next year on November 7, 2020 to honor next years award winners and to raise even more money for the Foundation.

 

Last but certainly not least a big thank you to our wonderful Foundation dinner committee and all who helped plan and execute this event.  You are truly #peopleofaction.
