Welcome and congratulations to some of our new members that were inducted into Rotary today, including from left to right, Doug Capra, June Pemberton, Monica Hinders, (with Mary Ann Benoit) Gerri Nipp, and Jesse and Robbie Huett.
It was a pleasure learning more about each of them, why they wanted to become Rotarians, and trying to guess which of the three things they told us about themselves were true and which were lies! Sadly, they are all good liars:)
It was interesting to see how similar their reasons were for joining Rotary.
For example, Monica Hinders said that she saw us doing good things in the community and she wanted to be associated with us. Like many people, she thought that she had to be a business person (which is not true) to be asked to join. She is loving the positive vibe she gets from our club already and we are so happy to have her join us. And, she is already serving as our new Club Secretary!
Doug Capra’s answer was similar to Monica’s. He was looking for groups that are doing good in town and the world, and he wanted to be a part of that.
Jesse Huett joined to make an impact in the community and get to know other Rotarians."
Robbie Huett said, "to invest in my community".
Geri Nipp said she wanted to be a Rotarian because "I feel like I volunteer for a lot of things, but most seem to be associated with work and school, which I love to do. I would like to have a better understanding of what Rotary does and how we are involved in the community, to be a part of something bigger".
June Pemberton mentioned, “I want to be a Rotarian because it brings all people together working to improve our world as one unit with lots of different people coming together to do good things”.
Most of our new members joined to not only make a difference in our community, but to make a difference on a larger scale and that is something Rotary is know for worldwide. We will do our best to live up to your expectations!
