On Wednesday, August 14th, many of our club members donated four hours to the Seward Silver Salmon Derby by working in the harbor Derby booth.  Pairs of Rotarians either weighed the fish that were brought in by excited fishermen, or sold Derby tickets to hopefuls.  With the Derby ending Sunday, August 18th, and lots of fish out in Resurrection Bay, the excitement is high.  The leading fish caught by Thursday night, August 15th was 17.34 pounds.

While working at the Derby Booth, members were also able to promote the Club's current fundraiser and to sell some tickets for that Duck Race, scheduled for the last day of the Derby this Sunday.  At 3pm, all the ducks that were sold will be taken to the Lowell Canyon Waterfall and will race for the finish line.  Some lucky duck will win a cruise for two on Holland American, while thirty-four others will quack away with cash prizes.
