Membership Workshop - August 20

Our scheduled speaker for this week, Brian Hames, City of San Jose, has a mandatory meeting with the city, hence shall not be attending our club meet.

August is Rotary International Membership and New Club Development Month.  President Robbie has arranged for a Club membership workshop, facilitated by Club membership Chair, Charlie Wasser.  A good attendance would be appreciated.

Evening Meet -  September 10

The club meeting will take place in the evening, a great opportunity to extend an invitation to those interested in learning more about Rotary and in particular, San Jose East Evergreen.

Honoring Vocations - August 27, October 8, 2015

When professionals join a Rotary club, they do so as a representative of their classification – their particular business or profession, be it doctor, educator, financial or real estate professional, engineer, etc.

Recognizing the value of all vocations and vocational service is integral to Rotary since its’ inception, and one of its’ five Avenues of Service.   Vocational Service calls every Rotarian to (1) aspire to high ethical standards in their occupation;  (2) recognize the worthiness of all useful  occupations, and; (3) contribute their vocational talents to the problems and needs of society.

There are many who have provided vocational service over the years.  Past District Governor (2012) Joe Hamilton recently led a Vocational Service Team to China to train teachers, and will share his experience at the October 8 club meeting.  Upcoming club recognition of vocational service include the City of San Jose Work2Fture Summer 2015 Team members, as well as  the Silicon Valley Health Corp (club program on August 27).
