Have you heard of Joseph Fair
Living in poverty and despair?
His house is made of iron and sacks
Which sadly food and water lacks
Father spends his day just hoeing
With very little seed for sowing
But they have no means to put that right
For they never learned to read or write.
Another Joseph name of Sunny
Lives in a land of milk and honey.
His parents are just proper mugs
Who spend their time with worthless drugs
They cannot ever put that right
For they never learned to read or write.
Josephine is a different Lass
A girl alone with lots of cash
But actually she hates each day
Selling her body to earn the pay
She too will never get that right
For she never learned to read or write.
My Rotary friends you know the score
With a little push we can do much more
Books and learning words are great
So tell your club to make a date
To give. Our Foundation fund big schemes to show.
There is a way to let kids know
That school and books and words are fun
So please, just please---TELL everyone.
