Introduction of Visitors: Tom Myers welcomed one visiting Rotarian, Judy Armstrong from Campbell Rotary and two prospective members: 1) Dominick from Minuteman Press; 2) Kristin Wu, Attorney with Crist, Biorn, Shepherd & Roskoph.

 

Club Announcements:

Crab Feed is Saturday!!!! Alan showed his enthusiasm with the ‘Crab hat’.  Hal and Jim stepped up as special pick-up/unloaders.  Members provided ticket tally and money, if additional tickets are sold during the week, email Alan at:  alan@amgenterprises.com.  Alan shared the entertainment is live jazz.  See you all Saturday in your blue Rotary polio shirts.

 

First Newsletter was emailed to all members and a few hardcopies were distributed.  Beautiful newsletter and thanks to Heather!   

 

Tom Myers 2011-2012 Board Election: Tom announced the members nominated for Board positions. Roger moved to accept their nominations, Kim seconded, majority agreed.  The following members are voted as the board for 2011-2012: President - Anita Grossman; President Elect - Judy Hannemann; Others: Fred Storek - Treasurer, Chuck Osborn - Secretary, Monique Kane, Gerry Felix, Jerylann Mataeo, Jim Spangler, and Walt Joyce

 

Tahoe March 2427:  Bruce welcomed more members to attend the Winter Fun weekend at his cabin.  If you haven’t signed up, contact Bruce. 

 

Youth Exchange:  Bert shared that a family in Los Altos has submitted paperwork to be the host family for the German exchange student, however, the club is still in need of a second family according to the exchange rules. Please check with your Interact students and families.

 

Sandi shared that John Rinaldi asked to resign from the Club after 24 years as a member.  The board will review his request and discuss honorary membership.

 

Save the Date – Feb 8th fundraiser for Child AIDS Prevention in Liberia Screening of “The Other City” a story of

HIV/AIDS in Washington DC. At Los Altos High School Theatre

 

Feb 26th The Women’s Hospital at El Camino Hospital will host a “Day of Dance” health event, designed to motivate women to improve their health. There will be lectures, 7 different cardiovascular screenings and dance & exercise demonstrations – More info to come.

 

Fine Master Judy Hanneman asked Kim, Roger, Phoebe, Jim C, and Walt how our Club can gain new members and more contributions to the Club fund were received.

 

Speaker – Kathy Thibodeaux Interim CEO at Community School of Music & Art.

Kathy and her team share the history and unique aspects of the CSMA music and art programs in Mountain View and the Bay.  CSMA reaches 40,000 students through schools’ curriculum, on-site class at the Finn Center, and classes and camps throughout the year.  Sonia shared her story and solo “One Moment in Time”. CSMA welcomes Rotarians and the community to engage with the center by partaking in a class, attending a concert, volunteering, and attending the Annual Gala on March 26, 2011.
