Opportunity! That is what comes to my mind as I think about this Rotary year (July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018). Our Mountain View Rotary Club theme is "Having Fun Making a Difference." What an opportunity we have to serve our community, our region, nation, and the world through Rotary, and have fun doing it together!
In 1980 I was invited by a business acquaintance to join Rotary in Southern California. I joined for the networking opportunities with top leaders in our community who comprised Rotary membership. I found these connections very beneficial. But, I stayed in Rotary and developed a strong internal motivation to participate because of opportunities to serve; to serve not only our local community in a variety ways, but to serve beyond local, out to the entire world through this amazing Rotary network. I also experienced the fun of participating in worthwhile activities with leaders who became my friends.
This year, the Rotary Club of Mountain View has plans to continue making a difference in our community, nation, and world ... and, have a bunch of fun while doing this! We will continue our proud club tradition of "service above self," which goes back to the founding of our club over 90 years ago. As Rotarians we stand ready to welcome new members into our club.
