General Club Announcements:
 
 
  • Thanks to Sanjay Dave for providing dessert today.
 
 
  • Twana/Scott:   May Community Service Project is Saturday, May 21st from 9am to 12pm. We are looking for volunteers for one of our grantees, Living Classrooms, for several fun “hands on projects.” Location is TBD but most likely at one of the public schools in MV. Projects include setting up a seating area out of log rounds, expanding the native garden, and planting fruit trees.
 
  • Bruce: Rotating Dinner is set for Saturday, May 7th.
 
  • Twana/Walt: Golf Tournament and dinner: June 10th at Shoreline. Sign Up sheet.
 
  • Twana/Alan: Kick Out Dinner:  Save the date, Friday, June 24th
 
 
  • Twana Next Board Meeting is Thursday, May 19th at 5:00 pm at CHAC.
 
 
 
District Announcements:
 
A good time was had by all at the District Conference Dinner, which included a $1000 prize for a student talent contest and hospitality suites afterward.
 
Dennis Potter – RotaCare Party on Thursday to celebrate 26 years and the restaurants who donated food.
 
SPEAKER INTRO:  Ken Schwaderer will introduce this year’s 7 scholarship recipients for our Mountain View Rotary Club.
 
Scholarship Criteria: Students may select to attend any College and they must enroll to receive the scholarship.

Saint Francis HS – Bruce Barsi
           
            Corey Wallace – starting linebacker for Saint Francis.  He will attend Northern Arizona University where he will play football and major in Television & Broadcasting specializing in sports broadcasting
 
LAHS - Walt Joyce
 
            Tatiana Gibson – mother Martha Gomez – Will attend Cal Poly and major in Physics and Astronomy
            Sung-Yaa (Sofia) Guo – mother - Will attend Cal Berkeley and major in Economics
           
MVHS - Jim Spangler
 
            Griulia Martins – Will attend Notre Dame and major in Business and play on the soccer team
           
Alta Vista – Judy Hannemann
 
            Juan Carbajal – mentor Bob Adams – Will attend De Anza and major in Criminal Justice
            Jena Knight – teacher Leslie Schwarz – Will attend De Anza and is undecided
            Eliud Soto – father Sergio Soto – Hasn’t decided where/if he’ll go to college
