Our club’s call to action this year is “Being the Best We Can Be.”  Thank you all for joining us today.

Introduction of Visitors: Our visitors included Asst. Dist. Governor Steve Ross from The Palo Alto University Club and Dr. Helen Pillsbury. Dr. Pillsbury shared her fond memories of receiving a Rotary scholarship in high school.  She was then promptly stalked for the rest of the meeting by Past President Alan in an attempt to get her to consider joining the club.
 
 
General Club Announcements:
 
  • Thanks to Alan Goodman for providing dessert today.   
  • Scott: Community Service for May: Living Classrooms on Sat., May 21st from 9 am to 12pm at Theuerkauf school. Address was provided but I was too busy stuffing my face and didn’t get it. Stay calm….it will be provided in a timely manner.
 
  • Bruce: Rotating Dinner is set for Saturday, May 7th. Save the Date.
 
  • Sanjay: New Volunteer Opportunity with Hope’s Corner delivering food on Saturday mornings.  We still need some more volunteers.
 
  • Twana: Signup sheet going around for an extra community service work opportunity in April to help Hope’s Corner place a new floor. This is not part of our monthly community project but is an extra one. Sign up to help on April 22, 23 or 24th.
 
  • Twana/Walt: Golf Tournament: June 10th at Shoreline. Save the date and more details to come.
 
  • Twana/Alan: Kick Out Dinner:  Save the date, Friday, June 24th
  • Volunteers wanted to perform with the MV Rotary Repertory Players.
 
  • Twana Next Board Meeting Thursday: – April 21st has been cancelled due to poor planning on behalf of President Twana or some such situation. Honestly..once she said it was cancelled I quit listening while I was still ahead.
  • Hate those board meetings……….
 
 
  • Ken informed the group that our club gave out $7000 in scholarships this year and that they will be presented at our next meeting on May 3rd.
 
  • The clip board to sign up to be Speaker Chair for a month was circulated.
 
 
District Announcements:
 
 
District Conference: We will have a table for our Club at the District Conference on Saturday night, April 30th. If you are interested in attending, please sign up. Dinner is $75. There will be a Chinese Dance show, an Interact talent show and Cliff Dockerman speaking that evening.
 
 
Personal Sharing:
 
Fred Storek announced that his son had a baby recently. Father and son are doing well and father looks forward to getting his figure back in time for swimsuit season.
 
Jim Spangler announced that his son Nick will be a lead actor in the nationwide traveling production of A Gentleman in Paris. The show will be in San Francisco in Sept. of 2017 and we hope to plan a club social event to attend.
 
  
SPEAKER INTRO:  Jack Wong introduced today’s speakers, Stephanie Kleinheinz (try saying that 3 times in a row at a rapid speed) & Dr. Angela Bymaster from the School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County. This is a program that is very similar to the RotaCare Health Clinics with the primary goal of providing free or low cost medical care to the low income, uninsured and medically underserved children from infancy to age 19. They currently have 6 clinics throughout the county. For additional information please go to their website:  www.schoolhealthclinics.org
 
 
Our Program on May 3rd will be the presentation of scholarships to high school recipients chosen by our selection committee.
