Meeting Minutes by Heather

June 12th, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 12:35pm by President Scott.

The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Bert

Heather shared two thoughts:  The first in honor of graduates by Eleanor Roosevelt “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”  The second to wish all the fathers a Happy Father’s Day:   Larry Bird said, "If there was a payment to the bank due, and we needed shoes, she'd get the shoes, and then deal with them guys at the bank. I don’t mean she wouldn’t pay the bank, but the children always came first.”

Bert led the introduction of visiting Rotarians: Sue L (Oakland) and Nick (Evergreen).

Today’s program was introduced by Fred of Rotary Vietnam Project. District 5170 Interactors, Xuan and Huongle, shared the mission of Fighting slavery with scholarships — One soccer ball at a time. The project fights slavery through scholarships to help Vietnamese girls and boys vulnerable to human traffickers to attend school at no cost to their family. Often families are deceived by offers of fake jobs. The project seeks donations by directly sponsoring a student scholarship or purchase indestructible soccer balls.  The Interactors with support by a few local Rotarians have a current goal of $40,000.  For more information:   https://rotaryvietnamproject.weebly.com
