President Elect’s Greeting:  President Scott welcomed everyone and talked about this year’s Rotary themes:
Rotary International - Rotary: Making a Difference.”  
5170 District Governor Orrin Mahoney - “Developing Lifelong Friendships, While Making a Difference.”  
Mountain View Club - “Having Fun Making a Difference.”  
 
  1. Pledge of Allegiance -  Jim Cochran
 
  1. Thought for the Day:   Anita shared an excerpt from Bryan Stevenson’s book Just Mercy          
 
  1. Song of the Day:  Song master Phil led us in a spirited rendition of “God Bless America”
 
  1. Bert welcomed former Rotary International President and Mountain View Honorary Member M.A.T. Caparas. Under MAT’s leadership as RI President in 1986-87, women were welcomed to the fold and Rotary International secured a permanent home on Ridge Road in Evanston. Dave Cole noted that MAT was the first person who joined his President’s Club when he was Club President way back in the day.
 
 
  1. Crab Feed: Alan reminded everyone he will need to know how many tickets sold are for people who will be eating no later than next Tuesday, January 30th. Twana discussed the recycling containers that will be at the event.  .
 
  1. President’s Club: Judy joined the President’s Club, bringing the total number of members to 24 and $3,600 received.
  1. Foundation: Monique thanked Phil Armi for his gift to the Foundation and noted that there are only five gifts to go until we reach 100% club participation. February is Polio Prevention Month and a great time to make your gift if you haven’t already done so.
 
  1. Ski Trip: There is still room for the March 8-12 Ski Trip; please talk with Bruce as soon as possible if you would like to participate.
 
  1. Program: The Club was treated to a wonderful concert by the Mountain View High School Madrigals who will be travelling to South Africa later this year for a tour. The group, which has been in existence for 21 years, sang about 10 songs.
