Travelling Across America.

Cayucos-Seaside Rotary November 11, 2010 Present: Jessica, Gary, Emily, Liz W., Dick, Pam, Liz G., Sherry, Dan We are taking care of fire alarm batteries for seniors this month for the Senior Center. Dan signed us up to sponsor Interact club in Morro Bay; students are from Morro Bay, Cayucos and Los Osos. Emily and Brenda volunteered to act as liaison from Cayucos. Lynn & Dave Hamish speakers on "The Great American Journey". The journey was inspired by the events of 9/11. They saw a need to travel across America and pray for strength and healing for the country. Started in Washington State and walked all the way to Florida. The three women walked about 20 miles a day for a total of 4,026 miles. The trip took 14 ½ months and started in May. The women had a support team to follow them. They stayed in a 30' motor home until it broke down. After donating it to a homeless couple, they didn't need it to move, they stayed in motels. They saw and talk to many interesting people. They also saw many fascinating places. Meeting adjourned @ 8:03.
