This St. Patrick's Day was lucky is two ways. Not only did our club take part in a tour of the new Cayucos School, but a wonderful human being was venerated in the way of a memorial garden. Read more about the new Cayucos facility.

On March 17th at 3:15 p.m. service clubs, community members, faculty and students all gathered for a tour of the new and improved Cayucos School and a dedication of the memorial garden in Patty Silveira's name. A plaque with meaning appeared over the water fountain while trees and flowers stood tall in rememberence of our beloved secretary and friend.

The tour started with the new cafeteria that overlooks the beautiful, sparkling Pacific Ocean. A great way for students to enjoy their lunch and reflect on their good fortune.

Next was a look into the new middle school classrooms and the science lab. The new lab is equipped with advanced technology and room for laptops and keyboards and plenty of room for labs and experiments.

All classrooms are equipped with skylights, sinks, and an earth friendly feel. Maino Construction feels that "Green" is the way to go, but that doesn't mean beauty and aesthetics have to suffer. The detail and intricate patterns of the decor give our school a unique and historical feel.

The multipurpose room will allow for competitive sports, plays with an added outdoor stage, a box office, restrooms, two locker rooms for students during P.E. class, and 16'' wide projection screen and automatic toilet and sink capabilities. Fancy!

Cayucos School would especially like to thank the Lions, Lioness, Rotary, Cayucos Education Foundation, Maino Construction, and others who shared this vested interest in our community.

Completion is set for August 2009 and another tour will take place during this month.

The day ended with a ribbon cutting performed by Patty's daughter Sandy, and then refreshments and conversation finished off a beautiful day of celebration on many levels.

Thank you for all who attended and Rotary Rocks!
