April is Magazine Month Read your current issue there may be a quiz next week! Magazine started as a 12 page newsletter in 1911. Paul Harris, the founder, created the first issue and he would be proud to hear the over 500,000 copies are circulated each month. 2 Great articles this month, "Music for Life," and "Empowering Women and Child."

Next Beach Clean-up is April 24^th at the Pier from 1:00-1:30 p.m. This will be in conjunction with Earth Day and Cayucos School.

PACE is a program for educating girls. Pace is a way to educate the source not just focusing on the solution. Training and education is the most important.

No meeting on April 30^th due to the field trip. More details to come.

June 28^th we will be dark. Rotary Youth Exchange Students will be the focus on this day. Our club can visit the Los Osos club on that Friday morning. And shut down for the week.

Rotary International is hoping that 200 clubs will participate in RI's Future Vision Plan. We will need 2/3 club vote to participate in the plan.

501c3 nonprofit organization, independent entity, mission is to provide for the restoration on the unique active archeological sight. Own colony of elephant seal and sea lion and over the last five years, all the native plants have come back to the light station due to the removal of acres of ice plants. With the native plants comes native animals like bunnies, bobcats, peregrine falcons,

Designated an outstanding sanctuary and no one can build on it, no one can sell it and it's part of the coastal national monument t which means no fishing, whales swim by and

Began in 1875

Now open to the public for tours on Tues, Thurs, Sat at 10:00 a.m. Two hour tour is the time and in the morning is the best because the winds are not as violent. In the afternoon, winds can reach up to 20-30 miles an hour.

Field trip to the station is something our club can get involved it-yeah!

PBLSA has been around since 2004. Educating the community about the light station.

How can we get involved: two programs-Childhood obesity: program is designed to teach history and get involved to get these kids outdoors. The older the kid, the more involved the activities. Kids will get a tour, whale watching, walk them around to get them moving and then develop programs that will keep them interested.

History Internship for college students meant to educate. Working currently with CalPoly.

Looking for authors that have background that can help write articles about the Central Coast and papers about the history of the light station.

Handouts available: newsletter, flyer on the return to the natives about natural plants and animals that have been restored to this area, how to become a member.
