Meeting came to order by President, Liz Weeth at 7:08 AM.

  • President Liz introduced Patty McCann, potential new member, 2nd meeting.  Patty has a business, Remember When in Cayucos.  She is eager to become an active member of Rotary, and has already participated in Liz Gray’s stepdown and in last Tuesday’s beach clean-up.
  • Visiting Rotarian, Vera Wallin from the Los Osos club was introduced.
  • Liz Gray gave a report on where we stand with Creative Mediation.  It is a three year commitment and we will be starting year two at the start of the new school year.  A refresher course will be given to the members who participated in the program last year.  The Cayucos School has reported that they are pleased with the benefits they are receiving from the program.
  • District Simplified Grant meeting, Monday, July 11th
  • Judy Salamacha, visiting Rotarian and today’s guest speaker.  Judy is a writer who came to the Central Coast eight years ago from Bakersfield.  Here she joined the Morro Bay Rotary of which she is now a past President.  One of Judy’s passions is the spelling bee at Cayucos Elementary School, which she was instrumental in getting started.  She would love to see our club in the audience when they hold their spelling bees, as it adds another level of interest and excitement to have more than just parents in attendance when they are competing.  Another huge passion is the Central Coast Writers’ Conference which she is intensely involved with.  It will be held 9/16-17, anyone can attend, even if you want to self publish.  The cost is only $139.  There will be an amazing array of writers on hand during the workshops to learn from.  Flyers were distributed.
  • Meeting adjourned 8:00 AM.
