We kicked off our Rotary meeting this evening an hour earlier at 5:00 pm (new time) with a huge flag salute followed by President Steve “Lars” Larson dedicating an inspirational moment to his dad. Members heartily gave happy bucks. We got to celebrate Steve Geil and Monika Gottlieb's birthdays, and view themed silent auction baskets prepared by club treasurer Eileen Geil. President-Elect Steve Geil gave us an update on what's secured and needed for upcoming Masquerade on March 28. Everyone was happy to give their Lincolns. President Lars presented the original title certificate to 2019 golf cart raffle winner, Sophia Smith of Cayucos, who's expressed interest in Rotary.

After committee reports, Greg Bettencourt and Mike Baxter representing the Cayucos Land Conservancy shared CLC’s history and how the Conservancy has been preserving land and uniqueness of Cayucos. CLC’s current project is the acquisition and preservation of part of the Toro Creek parcel from Chevron, costing about $4.75 million. Community contributions to the sum of about $350,000 will be matched by generous local donors to meet the $750,000 needed in community support. To help, please contact the Cayucos Land Conservancy 805-995-2046.   Next general meeting is on Thursday, Feb 6 @ 7am at the new Cayucos Sanitary District's Office on Toro Creek.
